Amir Shaghoury (lab manager)

Amir received his BSc (2017) in Biotechnology and Food Engineering and MSc (2024) in Biomedical Engineering from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa. He is currently the manager of two research labs at the Technion: Shamay Lab and Weihs Lab.

During his MSc, under the supervision of Prof. Daphne Weihs, his research focused on the effect of non-invasive cancer cell-derived conditioned media on the proliferation and invasiveness of invasive cancer cells. He developed PDMS-based small-gel frames for multi-analysis cell indentation assays and conducted FEBio-based simulations to model cancer cell responses to mechanical forces, exploring cell preferences for force application and stiffness-related breakdown thresholds.

Before his MSc, he worked as an R&D Engineer at Novetide, where he specialized in peptide synthesis, process development, and analytical method optimization. He designed and executed experiments to improve peptide production processes, focusing on HPLC and MS for peptide purity and structure analysis. He also collaborated with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges and enhance process efficiency, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
